Blake began school for acupuncture and Classical Chinese Medicine in 2004 and began working at Lotus Center in 2005 assisting in the pharmacy, treatment room and front desk. At Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medicine, she studied traditional and classical Chinese medicine, including with the internationally known teacher and 88th generation Daoist teacher, Jeffrey Yuen. After graduating in 2008, she was certified in Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Blake then started her work as an acupuncturist and herbalist providing acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, and making custom herbal remedies. She has continued her studies in Classical Chinese Medicine with Suzanne Robidoux, including the successful completion of a two-year course in Jing Fang herbal medicine based on the teachings of Dr. Hu Xi Shu.

Blake’s early life prepared her for an interest in healing with natural foods. She worked for many years at Deep Roots Market in Greensboro helping folks navigate dietary changes. She began studying traditional healing theories at this time, and realized that what might be healing for one person might not be healing for another, and that the body gives clues to what sort of imbalance might be present.

Since working at Lotus Center she has treated a wide range of issues including digestive complaints, anxiety/insomnia/depression, pain and dysfunction, chronic illness, and women’s health with acupuncture, cupping, and herbal medicine. Blake has great interest in herbal processing and custom products including topical remedies.

Heather McIver graduated from Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder, CO. She opened Stillpoint Acupuncture in 2001 and has been thrilled to see the popularity of Chinese Medicine grow since then. A major influence on her practice was her two-year course of study with Lonny Jarrett, author of Nourishing Destiny: The Inner Tradition of Chinese Medicine, and nationally recognized authority on integrating both Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element Acupuncture into a cohesive practice style. Heather has made two trips to Beijing, China where she learned from accomplished doctors of acupuncture. Heather’s true love is Chinese Herbal Medicine. In 2014 she completed a two-year advanced Graduate Mentorship Program with Sharon Weizenbaum. In 2015, she began studying with Dr. Feng Shi Lun and to this day continues that study with his student, Dr. Suzanne Robidoux. In 2019, she completed Dr. Robidoux’s two-year Jing Fang Classical formulas course and became a lineage holder in the Hu Xi Shu / Feng Shi Lun Six Syndrome System understanding of the use of Zhang Zhong Jing classical herbal formulas. This system provides a clear diagnostic process and understanding of the formulas that she has found produces faster and more profound results.

Heather holds a BA in Religious Studies from Guilford College, and a Masters in Health Education from the University of NC at Greensboro in addition to her MSOM. Heather is the mother of two children and enjoys writing, reading and good food!
